Award Winning Efforts to Provide a Lifetime of Love

In the past 30 years, over 1,200 children have been adopted through Cardinal McCloskey Services. Each year, CMS helps more than 65 children living in foster care to find permanent homes in adoptive families, making CMS one of the preferred providers of adoption services in the New York City area.
Award Winning Program
"Outstanding Achievement in Adoption"
For the past ten consecutive years, Cardinal McCloskey's Adoption Unit has received New York City's highest achievement award for their outstanding efforts in finding children permanent homes.

When a child enters foster care, the goal is always to help that child find a permanent home in a safe, loving, nurturing family. Hopefully, finding that home will mean being able to reunite the family once the issues causing the original removal have been addressed. Unfortunately, sometimes, returning a child to his or her birth family is not possible. When that happens, adoptive planning becomes the best choice for a child. Once a child has been legally "freed for adoption", Cardinal McCloskey's Adoption Unit is responsible for implementing the alternative plan for permanency.

Most often, children are adopted into families where the foster parents have grown to love them and where they have become important members of the family during their time in foster care. However, sometimes, particularly when children are older or handicapped or when there are sibling groups, permanent placement involves recruiting families willing to adopt.
