Application Process

  1. Mail or fax a resume and cover letter to the HR Recruiter.

  2. Be invited to an interview.

    If your skills match current openings you will be invited to complete an application and interview for the position. If you are not invited to interview at this time, your resume will be held for one year.

  3. Complete an application packet prior to the interview.

    Before you interview, you will be asked to complete an application package which includes:

    • 4-page application
    • Reference Authorization Form
    • Deduction Authorization Form for processing Central Registry Clearance Form

    To complete the application package you will need to bring the following information with you:

    • Name & COMPLETE address (including zip code) of all educational institutions
    • Name, COMPLETE address (including zip code) & phone number of 3 personal references (not relatives, former employers or former supervisors)
    • Certification numbers, date of issue and expiration date for any professional licenses (e.g. MSW, CSW, RN, etc.)
    • Explanations for gaps in employment
    • Information for your last 4 employers:
      • Name
      • COMPLETE address (including zip code)
      • Phone number
      • Dates (month & year) of employment
      • Position title
      • Last salary
      • Specific reason for leaving
      • 3-sentence description of duties
    • You will also need I-9 documentation: Examples are:
      • Drivers License and Social Security Card
      • Passport
      • Alien Registration Card

      Please note, you will be expected to complete the application in its entirety whether or not a resume or supporting documents are presented for consideration.

      All completed applications will be held for a period of one year.

  4. Interview with the HR Recruiter.

    Once your application package is complete, you will interview with the HR Recruiter. Additional interviews may be required with Department Directors and a Management designee of the program for which you are applying.

Reference Checks

All references of prospective employees WILL BE VERIFIED

Cardinal McCloskey Services cares for children, at-risk families and individuals with developmental disabilities. Quality care and safety for those we serve are our primary objectives. To ensure we meet those standards, CMS is diligent in verifying personal references, past employment histories, educational information, driving records and professional licenses.

Additional paperwork to be completed :

  • Employment Eligibility Verification (I-9) Form
  • NYS Child Abuse Central Registry Clearance Form
    All employees must be cleared by the NYS Child Abuse Central Registry. Employment is dependent upon this clearance.

Finger Printing

For several positions, additional background checks are mandated. Criminal background checks including fingerprinting are completed for all new employees having direct contact with children in any of our programs. Additional employees may be subject to criminal background checks as permitted by law.

Other Pre-employment Requirements

Physical Exam - As a condition of employment, all employees must have a physical examination. For many positions in direct contact with those we serve, annual physical exams or other medical testing may be required.
